Where We Work.

We primarily work in the Sahara refugee camps located in the south western corner of Algeria-- a piece of the arid, windy Sahara Desert. The landscape is mostly devoid of life, save a few bushes that escape the wandering sheep and goats of Saharawi herders. Rain is often close to non-existent, with less than a handful of days with any precipitation the whole year. Most days are sunny with bright blue skies. Winter temperatures dip to 40ºF and summers can reach 120ºF. Yet, in the midst of challenging conditions, we have found our place working alongside resilient people who have dealt with these challenges for decades. We hope in the future to be able to expand our programs as our development center grows and as we hear more from the Saharawi what they want for their own communities.
